Quick Answer

Treat the seed with red and blue, plant it in water, then collect the Battery Ball. For the We Were Here Tomorrow Battery Ball puzzle, process the seed at the original potion machine in the past before planting it in pot C. Swap back before collecting it, because collection removes the time glasses.

Where Do You Grow the Battery Ball?

Grow the Battery Ball during Xenobotany by treating the recovered seed with red and blue in the past, planting it in the water-filled pot C, and collecting the result in the Present after swapping back.

You need the recovered seed before starting this sequence. Take it from its container in the Present and bring it with you to the past, called Rockbury. This seed comes from a container rather than one of the seed dispensers used for the other plants.

Both players swap at the time glass by pot E. The player carrying the Hook Gun takes the seed to Rockbury and handles the treatment and planting there. Keep the distinction between planting and collecting clear: you plant in the past, but the resulting plant grows in the matching pot in the Present.

How Does the Battery Ball Red Blue Recipe Work?

The Battery Ball red blue recipe requires one red fertiliser and one blue fertiliser, in either order, applied at the original potion machine before planting.

The station has two handles. Each handle selects one fertiliser, so you are choosing two ingredients for the seed. Match the colours and shapes at the station:

IngredientShape
Blue fertiliserTriangle
Red fertiliserRectangle

You do not need to assign red to a particular side. Blue on the left and red on the right works, and reversing those selections also works. The important part is selecting both required fertilisers and processing the seed before taking it to the planter.

  1. Bring the recovered seed to the original potion machine in Rockbury.
  2. Set one handle to blue and the other to red.
  3. Insert the seed and process it.
  4. Take the treated seed to pot C in the main hall.

Treat the seed before planting it. The water-filled planter supplies the growing condition; it does not replace the red and blue treatment at the potion machine.

Which Water Planter Does the Battery Ball Need?

The Battery Ball needs pot C, the water-filled planter in the main hall's round grate.

Only pot C has water. Choose it by that condition and location rather than assuming that any central planter will do. Pot D is in the middle of the greenhouse, but it has no water and does not meet this seed's requirement.

Plant the treated seed in pot C. You do not need a player or goop to hold a light plate for this plant. Its water requirement is what determines the planter, so looking for a plate to press will not solve a placement mistake.

The water-filled pot is for this seed. Earlier electrical seeds cannot have water, so their planting rules lead you away from pot C. The Xenobotany plant ladder is another separate plant puzzle; its recipe and light requirement do not carry over to the Battery Ball.

What Stops Battery Ball Seed Growth?

Wrong fertilisers or the wrong growing conditions stop the seed from reaching its full form, and the plant in the Present shows which part needs attention.

A small, dead-looking plant indicates incorrect fertilisers. Return your attention to the treatment step: this seed needs red and blue together. Changing which handle holds each colour is unnecessary because either order works.

A half-grown plant indicates a water or light problem in the greenhouse's growing system. For this particular seed, check the water first: it belongs in pot C and does not require a held light plate. A dry planter cannot satisfy its water requirement, even when you selected the correct fertilisers.

This gives you a practical way to separate the two checks. Check treatment when the plant looks small and dead; check the planting conditions when it has grown only partway. For the Battery Ball seed growth sequence, the combination you need is the treated seed plus pot C's water.

When Should You Collect the Battery Ball?

Collect the Battery Ball only after both players swap back at the time glass by pot E, leaving the Hook Gun player in the Present.

Once the plant grows in the Present, pause before taking its reward. Growing it solves the cultivation puzzle, but collecting from it removes the time glasses. Make the return swap while those glasses are still available.

  1. Leave the grown plant's reward in place.
  2. Have both players return to the time glass by pot E and swap back.
  3. With the Hook Gun player in the Present, go through the climate room to pot C.
  4. Collect the Battery Ball from the grown plant.

The exit door in Rockbury opens after collection. Continue with the PAT Control Room puzzle.
